Be a Good Finder!

Be a Good Finder!
I carried the medical device bag 25 years!  I am well aware how difficult this statement can be for many of you.  Every moment of every day presents its own unique challenges.  A doctor unhappy with how your team or you handled an emergency room situation, a nurse complaining your platform causes too much work for her and finally the patient can’t get their home monitor to connect to their cell provider.  Each individual encounter presents a challenge to either Complain & Blame or Choose to Change the interaction into an opportunity to serve.

Finding the Good in others is simply the act of putting yourself into the other persons’ shoes and begining to understand the Why behind the What!  What the doctor, nurse or patient is saying is not the reason Why they are saying it.  Reacting instead of responding puts the other individual in defensive mode and makes communication very difficult.  In the case of the doctor, who was unhappy with the emergency room encounter, clarifying the reason for his feelings allowed the sales representative to uncover the real issue behind the outburst.  What good can come out of this encounter?  How can you turn a negative situation into a positive solution?

Acknowledging the concern and seek the good in the communication.  “Doctor thank you for sharing your concern with me.  Your investment in helping my team interact with our patients better will continue our growth in the service arena.”  It isn’t lip service!  It is the opportunity to find good and neutralize a volital situation.  Clarifiing, Acknowledging, and expressing Gratitude help us each become a good finder!

Who will you find Good in Today?  Attitude Changes everything!  Be a Change maker and find the good in the moments that challenge us the most!

Gail
